Two weekends ago we had a long weekend and I went to Tenerife, one of the Canary Islands, with the normal crew, Angelica, Laurel and Kimzey.
Day 1: Friday February 25 We arrived early Friday morning around 9:00 from Madrid. We rented a car and managed to navigate ourselves from the airport to our apartment in a small town in the southern tip of the island called San Juan. The area we stayed in was some what of a retirement community with a lot of British and German people but it was a very relaxing trip. Our apartment was only a few blocks of the beach so once we got settled into our apartment we spent the rest of the day at the beach. The beach had black sand from the Volcano Teide, which is located in the center of island, and was a little rocky but warm enough to go into the water.

Day 2: Saturday February 26 We decided to do a little bit of exploring on the island. We drove up to the Teide National Park to see the Teide Volcano which is the world's third highest volcano. Our drive up consisted of some very narrow, hilly roads with lots of turns. A little scary at times but we made it up and stopped along the way to see some great views of the volcano and the island. We were unable to drive to the top of the volcano but we got some close views of the volcano where there was even some snow at the top.

Barrauito: A typical coffee drink from Tenerife consisting of sweet condensed milk, espresso, milk froth and a little bit of chocolate.

On our way down from the national park we went to the capital city in the northern part of the island, Santa Cruz, and stopped at a beach in a town outside of Santa Cruz. The name of the beach was Playa de las Teresitas in San Andres. The beach was beautiful with lots of rocks and mountains in the background but unfortunately the air was a lot colder making it harder to enjoy ourselves on the beach.

That evening when we returned to San Juan we went along the water and watched the sun set.

Day 3: Sunday, February 27 We decided to take advantage of our last day and enjoy the beach as much as possible. We packed a lunch and spent practically the whole day on the beach in San Juan. It was very relaxing and a great end to our last day on the Canary Islands.
That evening Kimzey and I decided to do a little more exploring at night of San Juan. We walked along the beach and climbed to the top of a rock wall at the end of the beach giving us a great view of the city at night.

We then left early the next morning to Madrid followed by a bus ride to Cordoba. It was my second time back to the Canary Islands in a year. Last year I had gone to the Gran Canary Island with my Italian roommate, Francesca. Who had thought I would have gone back the following year? I am glad that I was able to go back, see anther island and experience something new with different people.
